 Lake Annecey Chalet Apartment for rent in France: Chinaillon, Nr Grand Bornand, Haute Savoie: Luxury Chalet Apartment in Alpine Village with Wonderful Balcony Views; 2 Mins Walk from Ski Lifts and Village. Sleeps 8 (3 Bedrooms) Our apartment, Les Marmottes, is in a chalet situated on the edge of the alpine village of Chinaillon. 3 miles down the road is the beautiful and traditional village of Grand Bornand and just a bit further is La Clusaz, Annecy and all the Northern Alps. Annecy lake is 40 minutes drive away with plenty of facilities for swimming sunbathing and watersports. There are beautiful views over the ski slopes in winter and the green mountains in summer. We have only just acquired this fantastic two year old apartment but we have spent the last 5 years visiting the region, so thoroughly recommend it. Winter: You could not find a more convenient spot for skiing; the ski lifts are 2 minutes walk away. There are 90km of slopes to suit all abilities including some good off-piste areas. If you want to go a bit further afield then a ski pass for the Aravis range covers 220km of pistes and includes skibus transfers. There are also plenty of cafes in which to take a well earned rest or enjoy a typically French lunch. In the evening you can relax and recover in the chalet or sample several of the traditional restaurants in the village serving recipes typical of the region. We’d be happy to tell you where we have enjoyed visiting. If you’re not a skier, there are plenty of opportunities for walking and some interesting shops nearby. Summer: With the snow gone, the mountains become lush green with plenty of walks and cycle paths. You can take the lifts up the mountains and walk down, enjoy a gently cycle ride or visit one of the mountain restaurants for a relaxing lunch. If you are fitter than us you can find plenty of challenging walks or cycle climbs. The Tour de France regularly comes through the village en route to the Col de Colombiere. If all that sounds too much like hard work, you can go to Lake Annecy (about 40 minutes away) for swimming and sunbathing. The views are spectacular. Whatever you do, don’t forget to fit in a visit to Chamonix/Mont Blanc. It’s no more than an hour away and there are cable cars to take you high up into the mountains and the snow.
